A - ORDERS
1 - Placing a purchase order can by mail, fax or over the Internet.

Purchase orders sent by e-mail are not accepted.
2 - All purchase orders should specify the CRM numbers as indicated in the
catalogue or price list, designation of the material, number of units required,
delivery and invoicing addresses and for European Union countries the
purchaser's VAT identification number.
3 - Customers in countries where there are import difficulties should place their
orders through a forwarding agent in Belgium or an Authorised Distributor(1) ; prepayment
may be requested by IRMM. When import permits are required, the
customer should both apply for and supply these permits together with the
purchase order. IRMM accepts no responsibility for goods damaged during
customs clearance.
B - LIMITED AVAILABILITY
4 - As CRMs should become regularly used items in any measurement laboratory,
IRMM continues its effort to supply CRMs in sufficient quantities to cover market
needs. However, in exceptional cases where only limited quantities are available,
it reserves the right to restrict and/or refuse orders.
C - PRICES
5 - The price list is in principle valid for the current year; IRMM however reserves
the right to modify prices without prior notice.
6 - Any quotation given in writing by IRMM is valid for a period of 30 calendar days
from the date of issue.
7 – IRMM is one of the Institutes of the Joint Research Centre of the European
Commission. The Commission is exempt from all duties, taxes and obstacles on
the import and export of goods pursuant to articles 3 and 4 Chapter 1 of the
Protocol on the Duties and Immunities of the Euratom Treaty of Rome and
therefore does not possess a VAT identification number.
8 - Transport and packaging costs will be added to the official invoice, goods may
be sent "collect" by courier service after receiving the customer's courier account
number. However, IRMM reserves the right to select the most appropriate
shipping mode for materials requiring special care. Import or other taxes are at the
charge of the customer.
9 – For orders of less than 500 Euro (transport costs not included) a handling fee
of 10 Euro will be charged.
D - PAYMENT
10 - Payments shall be made by bank transfer in Euro (international bank
currency code: EUR), without any charges for the beneficiary, following the
instructions of the invoice within 45 (forty-five) days from date of invoice.
Prepayment is required for all countries except EU and EFTA countries, Australia,
Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and USA.
E - DELIVERY
11 - Orders to customers in EU and EFTA countries are in general shipped within 5
to 15 working days, to customers in other countries within 20 working days
after receipt of the purchase order or prepayment (when requested by IRMM).
Delivery time is not confirmed within these limits. Orders are not acknowledged.
The Institute is closed from December 24 to January 2 each year. No shipments
requiring cooling elements or dry ice are performed in the two weeks and no
shipments under ambient conditions are performed in the last week before the
closing period. Order processing times are therefore longer in this period.
12 – Failure of the purchaser to inspect the goods and give written notice to IRMM
of any alleged nonconformity with the order within 3 (three) working days from
delivery shall constitute an irrevocable acceptance by the purchaser of the
reference materials delivered to him.

14 - No discount is applicable (except contractually fixed exceptions).

16 - The present sales conditions are subject to Belgian law. In case of litigation,
the competent court will be the Court of Justice of the European Communities.
17 - Placing an order automatically implies acceptance by the purchaser that the
order is governed by and processed in accordance with IRMM's sales conditions.
IRMM is not bound by any terms of the purchaser's order that are inconsistent
with the terms herein.
18 - The quantities of material stated for the contents of the sample units are only
indicative. The Commission does not accept responsibility for any inaccuracies in
these quantities.
19 - The Commission is not liable for any wrongful use or any consequence of a
use of its reference materials that would not be for laboratories exercise or
research.
20 – The purchaser shall defend, indemnify and hold IRMM harmless from and
against any claims, actions or demands, liabilities and settlements resulting from,
or alleged to result from the purchaser's use of reference materials.
21 – IRMM takes all necessary steps to ensure that all information on personal data is processed confidentially and lawfully. IRMM may use the personal data provided to inform about its activities by telephone, fax, e-mail or mail and will not use it for any other reason nor share it with any organisation external to the European Commission except to the extent necessary to carry out purchase orders.
22 - Re-selling of reference materials : if samples are distributed through unauthorized companies, the IRMM cannot be held responsible for the integrity of the materials (especially in case of potentially unstable materials) nor for the accuracy and/or completeness of the accompanying information (certificates, reports, etc.).
