Today at 12:05, a fire occurred at the main building of the Joint Research Centre's (JRC) Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) at Geel. The fire detection systems were immediately activated. There were no persons injured in the incident. The on-site fire brigade responded to the incident, and the local fire brigade of Mol arrived at 12:20. As a result of the intervention of the fire brigade team, the fire was under control at 13:30. The fire did not affect any nuclear installations, and no radioactive products were released to the environment.
Vandaag was er een brand in het hoofdgebouw op het Gemeenschappelijk Centrum voor Onderzoek (JRC) - Instituut voor Referentie Materialen en –Metingen te Geel. Onmiddellijk traden de branddetectie-systemen in werking. De bedrijfsbrandweer is uitgerukt en later bijgestaan door de brandweer van Mol. Deze arriveerde om 12:20. Het optreden van de brandbestrijdingsteams heeft ertoe geleid dat de brand om 13:30 uur onder controle was. De brand had geen invloed op eventuele nucleaire installaties en er zijn geen radioactieve stoffen in de omgeving verspreid.
