The IMEP-30 exercise focused on the analysis of total arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury as well as methylmercury and inorganic arsenic. This interlaboratory comparison ran in parallel to IMEP-109 where only appointed National Reference Laboratories could take part in.
The IMEP-30 exercise was open to all laboratories, but only the first 60 registrations could be admitted.
The cost of this interlaboratory comparison was EUR 500 per registration.
Test materials and analytes
The test material to be analysed was seafood tissue contained in a glass bottle protected by a sealed aluminium bag.
Each participant received one bottle. The measurands were total As, Cd, Pb, and Hg, as well as CH3Hg and inorganic As.
General outline of the exercise
Participants were requested to perform 1 - 3 independent analyses using the method of their choice, and to report the mean and its expanded uncertainty. Detailed instructions were sent together with the sample.
