19/03/2012 New format of TrainMiC® applied in CSI: Environment Marie Curie Project training At the dawn of the second TrainMiC® decade, a new format of the program was introduced. A course on quality assurance of isotopic data used for environmental applications, organised by JRC-IRMM, was held 15-17 February, 2012 in Barcelona, Spain.
As many as 16 fellows of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network learned how to apply ISO 17025 standard in their own measurement environment. A novel approach in the program stimulated the TrainMiC® trainers to adopt the presented material according to the needs of the participants. The fellows presented their work using a template, which included reasoning of the attempted measurements, analytical procedure(s), data range and units, etc. Problems to obtain reliable data and possible actions to control the quality were discussed in dedicated sessions lead by senior researchers and TrainMiC® trainers.
The new TrainMiC® format gives more options to tailor the TrainMiC® material and increases the direct benefit for the people trained.

21/11/2011: Seven institutes decide to officialise their collaboration with TrainMiC®
On the occasion of the 10 th anniversary of TrainMiC ®, seven institutes decided to sign an official collaboration agreement with the JRC-IRMM (see below). Representatives of two institutes joined the 10 th Anniversary celebrations, namely Prof. M. Hennecke from BAM (German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing - picture on the left) and Prof. C. Nieto de Castro of the CCMM (Centre for Molecular Sciences and Materials, Lisbon, Portugal - picture on the right). All these organisations promote life long learning in the field of metrology in chemistry and provide knowledge on the metrological aspects related to ISO/IEC-17025 inside their organization and countries. The agreements were signed during the bi-annual TrainMiC ® Convention 2011 in Alden Biesen (Belgium) in the presence of the JRC-IRMM director Prof. K. Maruszewski. This event coincided with the 10 th anniversary of the TrainMiC ® programme and was attended by about 60 authorised TrainMiC ® trainers from 19 countries. Through these agreements, experts of the three organisations will be involved in training activities in the context of TrainMiC ® and the organisations also pledged a joint promotion. You can find more information here. How to become a collaborating organisation?

16/11/2011: TrainMiC® Supporting European Neighbourhood Policy
Ten years since its launch, the European life-long learning programme TrainMiC ® expands further into Neighbourhood Policy Countries. On 4 th November 2011, a TrainMiC kick-off event was held at the Belarussian State Institute of Metrology in Minsk. The training was delivered in Russian, the 15th language in the TrainMiC multilingual programme. Around 60 participants from different organisation in Belarus and Kazakhstan (2) were welcomed by the Director of the Belarussian State Institute of Metrology (BelGIM) Nicolai Zhagora. Dr Zhagora emphasised the importance of such trainings for the international recognition of the measurement results performed in Belarus. The newly authorised Belarussian TrainMiC ® trainers were supported by Dr Vaidotas Gegevicius (IRMM). Introductory lectures in Metrology in Chemistry and Uncertainty of Measurement together with practical exercises in Russian were given. The expansion of the TrainMiC ® programme in Europe and beyond is in line with the Commission's Europe 2020 strategic objectives to cover the current and future skills gap by providing lifelong learning and learning mobility.
